Bankers Hill
Bankers Hill, also known as Park West and formerly known as Florence Heights, is a long-established uptown San Diego neighborhood near Balboa Park. It is bordered to the north by Hillcrest at Upas Street, to the south by Downtown (at Interstate 5, the San Diego Freeway), to the east by Balboa Park, and to the west by Interstate 5, Little Italy, and the neighborhood known as Midtown.

Hillcrest

Hillcrest is part of the Uptown community planning area, which consists of the neighborhoods of Mission Hills, Hillcrest, Bankers Hill, Park West, and University Heights. The commercial area of Hillcrest is noted for its many restaurants. Scripps Mercy Hospital and the UC San Diego Medical Center are located here.

North Park

Hipsters, young professionals and students hang out in trendy North Park, where coffee shops, craft-beer bars and indie boutiques line University Avenue. The restaurant scene is heavy on brunch spots, upscale pubs, taquerias and sushi lounges, and nightlife often revolves around the Observatory North Park, a 1929 theater that hosts rap, rock and electronica. The North Park Thursday Market also features live music.

Balboa Park

Balboa Park is a 1,200-acre historic urban cultural park in San Diego, California, United States. In addition to open space areas, natural vegetation zones, green belts, gardens, and walking paths, it contains museums, several theaters, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo.

San Diego Bay

Several parks and nature preserves are found at various locations along the shoreline. Sightseeing boats depart from the downtown area. Commercial sport fishing and whale watching tours depart from Shelter Island. Ten museum ships call San Diego Bay home. They include the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier museum, and the Star of India, the oldest iron-hulled merchant ship afloat and the world's oldest active sailing ship. The Star of India and eight other ships and boats on San Diego Bay are the floating collection of the San Diego Maritime Museum; they are open to the public for a fee, and many are in sailing condition.

Pacific Beach

Pacific Beach is a relaxed neighborhood by the beach, popular with sunbathers and surfers. Trendy hotel bars and casual cafes line the boardwalk, while Mission Boulevard and the surrounding streets are dotted with women’s clothing boutiques, yoga studios and casual drinking spots that draw a young, bar-hopping crowd.

Downtown

The city’s culture hub, Downtown encompasses the historic Gaslamp Quarter, with a lively dining and bar scene, and Little Italy, lined with trattorias. Performing arts venues include the grand Civic Theatre for opera and bands. On the bayfront, there are tall ships at the Maritime Museum and vintage planes on the USS Midway, plus shops at Seaport Village. The Museum of Contemporary Art has 20th-century works.
